Blue Orange Green Pink Purple
Misadventures in becoming a stay-at-home Mama. I finally realized trying to be a wife, mother, daughter, sister, friend, homemaker, professional marketer and creative spirit was just too much to juggle (successfully, anyways). My husband and I decided we would try to cut back, live simply and enjoy more time with our sweet baby girl. Admittedly, the first few months have been tough with our income cut in half and few freelance projects on the horizon. My plan is to document my adventures in making my dream a reality...the good, bad and funny.

Spring Into Action

I guess a Friday post is my blogging style, so here it goes...our weekly recap.

The crafting continues. LoLo is completely preoccupied with sand, bugs, rocks, sticks, dirt, flowers, dogs and everything outside, so I am free to paint and make a mess of my very own.

I have been churning out faux vintage signs thanks to my Silhouette Cameo (this thing is amazing!), lots of inspiration from Pinterest and DaDa the handy man. We have a new gift store in town, The Mom and Pop Shop, where the owner has generously agreed to display my goods. I hope a few sell, it would be awesome to contribute to the bottom line once in a while.

I also hand crafted a few owl friends for the shop. Aren't they cute?

I also wanted to make Lo something for her Easter basket. The kid has 101 stuffed animals that we must drag around everywhere, so I searched for a smaller more portable option. She loves pillows, dolls, and mammies (blankets) too, so this little pocket size companion was the perfect solution. Another great Pinterest find, I created my own before realizing the pattern is available through this Etsy shop.

We also squeezed in several park trips and cupcakes at Funky Fairy Antiques. It is spring and we are in full swing. No offers on the house yet, but we are hopeful the new season will get people moving (literally).

Peppi is coming into town this weekend and we are all very excited. Shhhh, its her birthday and the celebration is on...decorations, fun filled outings and sweet treats. I am so proud of her, she recently became a Registered Medical Diagnostic Sonographer, so she has cool letters behind her name and a professional career helping others. Very impressive since I can't even stomach the thought of anything hospital related. Lo loves her Peppi and she will love singing Happy Birthday a million times over the next few days.

As families come together this weekend, give your lovies an extra long hug and let them know you love them!

Snipped, Ripped, Sewed and Cinched

My B.F.F inspired me to open my crafting closet and get to work making hair clips for our little girls this week. The simple request thrust me into crafting overload. I have refrained from crafting lately in an effort to keep the house clean for showings. I made up for lost time. Before I could clean up one mess I was making another...felt, fabric, pins, needles, glue, tape and scissors. I made a mess and it was fun!

I did manage to crank out a few critter clips for LoLo. I stopped when I realized we would soon have more clips than she has curls.

I also refashioned several ill-fitting dresses in my own closet. I snipped, ripped, sewed and cinched until I made two new summer skirts and a pretty cute belted top. In have no real sewing skills, so the frustration level was high, but I think it will pay off when I can pull these cute duds out of my closet this summer.

This is the bottom half of a dress that just didn't hang right anymore. I loved the fabric and couldn't bear to part with it, so I refashioned it into this cute skirt.
Long maxi dress I bought online that I chopped in half to make a shirt and skirt.
Can't wait to wear it!

My favorite project of the week was hands down, Lo and Ms. Kitty's Super Capes. A few scraps of fabric and some less than stellar sewing skills resulted in these adorable little capes for the dynamic duo. Lo added the Elmo shirt and winter hat to the ensemble all on her own. I must say, the world feels a little safer now.

Super Lo and her sidekick Ms. Kitty
Contemplating their next mission.
Faster than a speeding bullet!
What would we do without Ms. Kitty?

Super smiley :)

Have a super weekend and enjoy this beautiful weather with your loved ones.

It Smells Good in Here (for a change)

From dirty diapers to play clothes, the addition of a little one has wreaked havoc on the smell of our home. Thanks to a good friend who introduced me to Scentsy, things are really starting to smell better around our house. This wick-less/flame-less candle is safe for children and pets, so no worries if little Lo gets a hold of it when MaMa is out of the room.

Check out the products online.

Photo of the Day: Too Stinking Cute

Thanks Grannie for the new boy shirt. It looks fabulous with Lo's leggings and boots. The headband was just the girlie touch for my little tomboy.

Photo of the Day: For the Love of Books

Lo loves the library. We make weekly trips to the Killen library for playtime. They have story time every Friday at 10 a.m.

Scrub-A-Dub-Dub

I got called out on my lack of posting today, so I apologize AGAIN for my flighty post schedule.

We have our house on the market! It would be a dream come true to move closer to DaDa's work to cut his 3 hour daily commute. We are working hard to make that dream come true. Lo and I have been scrubbing the house from top to bottom to get it ready for showing. I clean and she messes mostly, but somehow we have managed to get it in tip-top shape. Our first showing is today.

Dress-Up and Mess-Up
LoLo is growing so fast. I am with her constantly and it still amazes me how quickly she is becoming a little girl right before my eyes. She loves to cook, take care of her babies and play outside. Luckily the weather has kept cabin fever at bay this winter and we are super excited to see the first signs of spring. We took a trip to Funky Fairy Antiques in Killen and had a ball playing in the gardens and browsing the store. Not only do they have a store full of antiques and jewelry, they have an amazing variety of herbs and spices. Each bottle lists the uses for the herb and how to incorporate it into your diet. You can also have a specialty tea blended to your likings. Such a great Saturday activity.

My Funky Fairy

Don't you just want to squeeze her cheeks?
For those of you that take the time to read my stuff, thank you! I never imagined that life without a corporate job would be so busy. I guess we are who we are and the work follows us wherever we go.
